Germany’s labour market has long been grappling with a massive workforce gap — the country is currently short of roughly one million workers. This structural problem is compounded by the fact that the younger generation in Germany is showing less and less interest in key sectors such as logistics and the automotive industry.

So what is the way out of this staffing crisis? The answer comes from LUTO Group, a staffing company with over 16 years of experience that has long specialised in the German market. Their formula combines targeted international recruitment, a personal approach, and above-standard care — delivering stability and efficiency for the companies they work with.

Language and uncertainty: How do we overcome the biggest barriers?

Higher wages, a better standard of living, and a secure future are powerful draws that motivate workers from Central and Eastern Europe to seek experience in Germany. But every upside has its downside — in a new environment, people most often run into language barriers and unfamiliarity with local authorities and customs.

“Already in 2011, when Germany opened its labour market to Czechs, Slovaks, and other nationalities, it was clear to us that simply placing people in jobs wasn’t enough. We need to take care of people right where they will live and work,” explains Martin Malik, CEO of LUTO Group.

LUTO Group therefore doesn’t leave employees to fend for themselves. More than 20 coordinators work directly at client sites across Germany, acting as reliable intermediaries who help people:

  • Overcome the initial language barrier.
  • Sort out accommodation and essential administrative tasks.
  • Complete necessary training and take their first steps in a new job without stress.

Low turnover as the key benefit for employers

For German companies – from local workshops to global corporations – working with LUTO Group is a reliable choice. The costs associated with these agency workers are fully comparable to those of permanent employees, but the real advantage lies elsewhere: these people value their work, show minimal turnover, and are loyal to the company.

The proof of the concept’s success is its longevity. Employees placed by LUTO Group very often transition from agency status directly into permanent positions at German companies. Many go on to advance into senior or leadership roles, where they can put to full use the language and professional skills they have gained through their time abroad.

Interview: “We are a direct line to the German labour market”

Your main specialisation is Germany. Why this market in particular?

Germany is one of our closest neighbouring countries. A large country with exciting opportunities that offers enormous potential and a constant demand for workers. German companies also operate in many other countries. Our employees, who have gained valuable experience working at companies directly in Germany, are often well positioned to work at these international branches as well.

What do you offer German companies and workers specifically?

We are definitely not the type of agency that finds workers, sends them to Germany, and considers its job done. That is not how we operate. We want to be comprehensive partners — not only for the companies we place workers with, but for the workers themselves. That is why we provide full support across the board, from general labourers and production operators to qualified professionals such as CNC programmers and shift supervisors.

Do you also help German clients expand beyond their home market?

Yes. When the German companies we work with expand into other countries, we want to be their partner there too. Our subsidiary companies make this possible, allowing us to support clients as they open new facilities in countries such as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, or Romania. We also regularly see the reverse model, where we follow our Czech clients into the German market. In short, we offer a broader range of services and do our best to meet the needs of each client.

What are your core values?

A personal approach, reliability, and specialisation in international workers. We are committed to fair relationships with both employees and clients — that is how we define ourselves in the market. This is reflected in our annual intake of roughly 2,500 new employees, who find placements with more than 80 clients. Our entire system has proven itself not only in Germany, but also in other countries where we effectively support trilateral cooperation between workers, employers, and foreign subsidiaries.

Looking for a reliable partner or a new professional challenge?

Each year, LUTO Group helps up to 2,500 people find a better job and a better future, while at the same time helping dozens of companies resolve their staffing needs. The range of services is broad — they can place general labourers, production operators, quality inspectors, and highly qualified professionals such as CNC programmers and shift supervisors.

The whole system works as a well-oiled bridge between workers and companies across Europe. German companies benefit from LUTO’s ability to flexibly provide human resources not only for their headquarters in Germany, but also for their international branches in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, or the Netherlands.

This unique trilateral collaboration also enables the effective circulation of talent — including the successful return of experienced, multilingual workers to their home countries, where they become a cornerstone of local teams.
